Student Leadership

Leadership skills are actively developed and taught to our students.

Leadership Opportunities

Throughout the year all student leaders are given responsibilities and opportunities to develop their leadership skills through attendance at monthly School Council meetings, organising fund raising events, meeting with specific staff including the school Principal to raise and discuss issues, representing the school at official functions, showing guests around the school or performing specific tasks as issues arise.

Junior School Council

Four Junior School Council representatives from each grade are elected by their peers to represent them in matters concerning the school and as representatives in the wider community. This includes:

  • Assisting in making school a safe and friendly place for all children.
  • Preparing reports of meetings and presenting reports to the School Council.
  • Providing a forum for ideas and acting on these ideas.
  • Organising fund-raising activities and special days.
  • Showing responsibility as role models in the school and as members of the community.

School Buddies Program

The Preschool Buddy Program provides an opportunity to be a role model and buddy for prep students. It begins in July of the year prior to preps commencing school. The Grade 5 buddies visit the local preschool in small groups on a weekly basis to get to know and support their young buddy.

The following year Prep students and their now grade 6 buddies, meet daily during February and then participate in activities together throughout the school year on a weekly basis. Buddies also assist the new students in the playground at recess and lunchtimes.
